Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Redondo Beach, CA seeks a Principal Engineer Structural, Aircraft Dynamics to support aeroelastic analyses for unclassified and classified programs. Responsibilities include defining study areas, interfacing with customers, and guiding test and analysis efforts across IRAD/CRAD initiatives.

Qualifications include a STEM degree with 5+ years’ experience (or advanced degrees), expertise in NASTRAN/FEMAP/MATLAB, and the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in STEM with 5+ years’ related engineering experience, or higher degrees with seniority.
• Experience in aeroelastic analysis, FEM development, and validation.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance and SAP access.

Responsibilities

• Establish aeroelastic design criteria for advanced aircraft concepts.
• Perform project planning to define requirements and execution plans.
• Generate and validate structural dynamic & aeroelastic FEM models.
• Execute modal analysis and correlate with test data sets.
• Perform static aeroelastic, flutter, and gust-load analyses.
• Support ground and flight test activities and report findings.
