Job summary

Gogo in Broomfield, CO seeks a Senior Airborne Platform Software Engineer to design, develop, and test production-grade software for airborne systems on Linux. You’ll implement new features, enhance existing components, and validate work for current products and Next Gen 5G Air-to-Ground solutions.

The role involves contributing to architecture, collaborating across teams, and delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced aerospace environment with stringent standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in CS/CE/EE.
• 7–12 years of software development in Linux/embedded environments.
• Strong Python and C/C++ on Linux; familiarity with Go is a plus.
• Experience with Jenkins, Git and Docker in CI/CD environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software features for new products and extend existing ones, including open source integrations.
• Create high and low-level design documentation.
• Conduct design reviews and participate in code inspections.

As a Gogo Senior Airborne Platform Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing and testing production quality software for Gogo airborne products on a Linux platform. You will develop new features, enhance existing software components, and test feature functionality on both existing products and our Next Generation 5G Air to Ground solution. You will be part of an experienced development team that integrates closely with other teams across the company.

How will you make a difference?

• Design and develop software features for new products or extend design of existing products, including selection and integration of third‑party technologies, particularly open source


• Create high and low-level design documentation


• Conduct design reviews and participate in code inspections


• Assist in development of automated unit tests


• Provide estimates for design and feature development


• Track project stories/tasks, provide status, and ensure stories/tasks are completed on schedule


• Continually improve design, development, and test processes


• May participate in establishing and maintaining software build environment and source code repository for assigned projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience


• 7-12 years of software development experience, preferably in a Linux or embedded systems environment


• Understanding of Linux networking including routing, iptables, DHCP, and DNS

Required Skills, Experience and Talents

• Strong application development skills in Linux environments utilizing Python and/or Linux scripting languages, C/C++, and possibly Go


• Experience as a Software Engineer developing software and utilizing open source packages in data communications and/or telecommunications systems


• Skilled in Jenkins automation build and test environment


• Relevant software configuration management and tools skills using Git


• Knowledge of Linux container concepts, especially Docker related

Preferred Skills, Experience and Talents

• Experience with 802.11ac wireless networking


• Understanding of traffic shaping and QoS


• Has worked with the Agile software development methodology and SAFe framework


• Avionics and ARINC protocols knowledge


• Working knowledge of the DO-178C certification process


• Satellite communication experience

Base Pay:

104,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual

Target Annual Short-Term Incentive:

Bonus Plan at 10% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
