Job summary

Ramboll is seeking a Managing Consultant in Air and Climate to join our Environment & Health division. You will lead technical teams on air quality projects, oversee permitting and regulatory strategy, and manage client relationships across the United States.

You will work with professionals across locations, contribute to mentoring junior staff, and leverage innovative tools including AI to enhance modeling and reporting.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering with strong quantitative coursework; PE certification a plus.
• 9+ years of air quality consulting experience including air permitting, compliance, and/or air dispersion modeling.
• Demonstrated project management experience including proposal development, scope, schedule, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with client relationship management and business development efforts.
• Strong understanding of air pollution control technologies and dispersion modeling tools (e.g., AERMOD).
• Experience interpreting and applying federal and state air regulations including Clean Air Act programs; multi-state experience desirable.
• Demonstrated experience preparing air permit applications including NSR/PSD and Title V, with emissions calculations and agency coordination.
• Proven ability to communicate technical information to clients, regulators, and stakeholders; presentations and regulatory interactions.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with programming (Python, R) and databases.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff in technical and consulting skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead, overseeing consultant-level staff on complex air quality projects.
• Critically review and interpret local, state, and federal environmental regulations focusing on air compliance.
• Maintain client relationships and manage deliverables to meet client needs efficiently and to the highest quality.
• Prepare air quality permit applications and environmental reports across a range of complexity levels and industry types.
• Estimate emissions and conduct engineering evaluations of air pollution sources.
