Job summary

BlackSky, a real-time intelligence company, seeks an Sr AI&T Engineer, Automation to advance automated assembly and testing for satellite manufacturing. The role collaborates with software and hardware teams in Tukwila, WA, reporting to the Director of Production and working onsite five days a week.

The ideal candidate combines strong Python/Bash scripting with hands-on hardware experience, a collaborative mindset, and a readiness to travel for launch campaigns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years in a production environment.
• Strong Python and Bash proficiency.
• Experience with debugging and testing methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Detail-oriented with hands-on hardware assets.
• Experience with Git or similar version control.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Execute assembly, integration, and testing of automated equipment and production systems for satellite manufacturing.
• Develop, modify, and maintain Python scripts for automation and data collection.
• Support integration, commissioning, and validation of automated test equipment.
• Troubleshoot automation hardware, software, and interfaces to minimize downtime.
• Apply software updates and automation improvements in controlled environments.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, work instructions, and test procedures.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards, ESD, FOD, configuration management, and cleanroom procedures.
• Support continuous improvement to increase automation and production throughput.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
