Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 4 to help design and build AI-powered products in a dynamic banking environment. You will partner with engineers, researchers, product managers, and data scientists to deliver scalable AI software components, including foundation model training, large language model inference, and multi-agent workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/AI/EE/CE with relevant AI/ML experience.
• 4+ years of AI/ML algorithm development or related work.
• Strong programming experience in Python, and at least one of Go/Scala/CUDA/Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS technologies for foundation models and inference.
• Invent model optimization techniques to improve performance and cost.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term AI roadmaps.
• Own end-to-end architecture with observability and ethical alignment.
• Define and maintain SLOs for AI reliability and measurements.
• Collaborate with infrastructure to optimize GPU/TPU utilization.
• Lead technical reviews and ensure security and governance.
• Mentor senior engineers on scalable design and production translation.
