Job summary

OnBoard is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement high-quality SaaS solutions. This remote US role focuses on AI-powered features, semantic search, and scalable architectures, with leadership across the engineering team.

You will mentor engineers, drive best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate business requirements into robust technical designs and delivery plans, while embracing innovative AI tooling and modern DevOps workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, CS, IT, or commensurate experience.
• 10+ years SaaS development experience focusing on user-facing features.
• 5-7 years web apps with C# and .NET Core.
• 5+ years RESTful design & microservices; including event hubs, messaging, data lakes.
• 1+ years AI-powered development tools usage.
• Experience in AI/ML areas: semantic search, vector databases, RAG, LLM orchestration.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• SOC2/ISO27001-compliant environment experience.
• CI/CD pipelines, Git workflow; Azure DevOps.
• Agile and DevOps leadership; technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of complex AI-powered software systems.
• Translate business requirements into technical design and implement iteratively.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on goals, scope, and timelines.
• Mentor and coach team members, promoting knowledge sharing and learning.
• Write reusable code, review code, and enforce standards.
• Champion AI-assisted development tools to accelerate velocity and quality.
• Build developer experience tooling and scalable pathways.
• Drive innovation and process improvements in engineering.
• Maintain architectural integrity with iterative, gated delivery.
• Stay updated on emerging tech and industry trends.
