Job summary

OnBoard is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement high-quality SaaS solutions with AI-powered capabilities. You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and drive innovative practices across a global remote team working US EST hours.

The role emphasizes semantic search, vector databases, LLM orchestration, and robust cloud architectures, with a strong focus on delivering scalable, user-centric experiences.

Qualifications

• 10+ years proven experience in SaaS development.
• 5-7 years' experience developing web applications with C# and .NET Core.
• 5+ years' experience with RESTful design patterns and microservices architecture; including high-scale cloud mechanisms like event hubs, messaging systems, and data lakes.
• 1+ years’ experience with AI-powered development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar).
• Experienced in one or more AI/ML areas: semantic search, vector databases, RAG frameworks, LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, or AI tooling development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software systems with AI-powered capabilities.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and implement iteratively with the team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define goals, scope, and timelines.
• Mentor and coach engineers to promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
• Write reusable code, review code, and enforce coding standards.
• Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development tools to accelerate velocity and quality.
• Build developer experience tooling to scale engineering capability.
• Drive technical innovation and optimize processes.
• Maintain architectural integrity with an iterative, gated delivery approach.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their impact.
