Job summary

Muck Rack is seeking a senior software engineer to build AI agents for PR and communications. You’ll work across a Python agent runtime, MCP server, and Django/Vue app, delivering real customer-facing features and shaping next-gen agent capabilities.

You’ll implement multi-turn workflows with memory, evaluate AI quality, and collaborate on platform decisions as the product scales. Remote, distributed team with strong compensation and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production software.
• Fluent Python skills with async programming and experience with FastAPI, FastMCP, or Django.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered features or agents to real customers exposing tools via MCP.
• Practical understanding of prompting, tool use, context management, and where models go wrong.
• Experience measuring AI quality and using learnings to improve it.
• Strong API and tool design skills including authentication and authorization.
• Proactively incorporates AI tools into day-to-day work to improve productivity and accelerate delivery.
• Working-hour overlap with US time zones (Eastern preferred).

Responsibilities

• Build agents that take action and create tools, prompts, guardrails, and multi-turn workflows with memory.
• Ship the full experience by building in-product chat, streaming responses, permission-aware APIs, and MCP server integration.
• Make quality measurable by building evals, catching regressions, and using feedback to improve latency and cost.
• Help shape the platform by making architectural decisions about build, deployment, and runtime as the product grows.
