Job summary

Cisco Systems is seeking an experienced security-focused engineer in the US to design and build AI-enhanced threat detection systems. You will work with data from endpoints, networks, and cloud traces to create scalable pipelines and explainable alerts for analysts.

The role emphasizes integrating AI models, testing novel features with SMEs, and shaping AI-native security operations across the enterprise. Hybrid collaboration with product teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of related experience or Master's with 8+ years of related experience.
• Experience with data sources such as endpoint logs, network traffic, authentication events, or cloud audit trails and how they’re used in detection and investigation workflows.
• Experience implementing data platforms and/or data lakes and warehouses.
• Experience building and maintaining pipelines for ingesting, parsing, and normalizing large-scale security telemetry.
• Experience building scalable backend services, APIs, and automation workflows in Python.
• Experience designing agent systems that will perform coding tasks for you.

Responsibilities

• Design and build systems that combine security data, detection signals, context, and foundation models to spot and predict threats.
• Prototype and test new AI features – decoding events and environments to predict anomalies and threats.
• Develop an AIDevOps pipeline to enable rapid experimentation with data, knowledge bases, models, and context memory.
• Architect and build a distributed platform that can correlate trillions of events and signals into explainable findings and alerts.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to co-design AI-enhanced threat detection and prediction workflows.
• Contribute to the core architecture powering AI-native security operations at Cisco.
