Job summary

Simpson Thacher seeks a Senior Security Engineer, AI Security, to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the firm's AI Security Program in New York. You will partner with App Security, Product Development, and Infra teams to deploy secure AI technologies including Claude and AI gateways.

The role requires deep AI, application, and cloud security expertise, strong governance skills, and the ability to drive security outcomes in a complex environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in security engineering, application security, cloud security, or related cybersecurity.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience securing AI platforms, AI-enabled applications, or enterprise AI solutions.
• Deep knowledge of AI security principles and frameworks including OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, NIST AI RMF, MITRE ATLAS.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation, maturation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise AI Security Program.
• Develop and operationalize AI security standards, control frameworks, and governance processes.
• Serve as the lead security engineer for enterprise AI platforms (Claude, AI coding assistants, AI gateways, Agents, MCP-based integrations).
• Design, implement, and improve security controls (IAM, authorization, encryption, logging, data protection).
• Develop AI guardrails to mitigate prompts, jailbreaks, unauthorized access, data exposure, and adversarial attacks.
• Create security automation, governance automation, and policy-as-code for scalable operations.
• Contribute to security reviews and threat modeling for AI-enabled apps and integrations.
• Establish secure development standards for AI-enabled software.
• Collaborate with Data Protection, Privacy, Compliance, and Governance teams.
