Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) seeks an AI and Robotics Subject Matter Expert to provide onsite program management support for the NIST AI Accelerator from Gaithersburg, MD or Boulder, CO.

The SME will advise on AI-driven tools, robotics adoption, and cross-domain deliverables while coordinating with NIST scientists and leadership. The role requires a Bachelor's in CS or related AI field, 10+ years managing complex tech initiatives, and PMP certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or an AI-related technical field.
• 10+ years of progressive professional experience managing complex technology initiatives, strategic tech-industry portfolios, or advanced R&D programs.
• Demonstrated expertise in executing program operations.
• PMP certification.
• Demonstrated experience with establishing risk management frameworks, and evaluating technical deliverables across domains such as AI, robotics, AI for cybersecurity, and smart manufacturing.
• Exceptional communication skills with invitation speaking opportunities or executive presentations.
• Ability to develop decision memos, executive briefing materials, and visual slide decks for leadership and C-suite executives.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Ability to work fully onsite based on client needs.

Responsibilities

• Act as a high-level advisor providing operational and program management support to the NIST AI Accelerator Director.
• Support day-to-day management of NIST AI Accelerator R&D activities.
• Assist in development and adoption of AI-driven tools and robotics in national priority areas.
• Conduct progress reviews and assess technical developments and deliverables.
• Collaborate with NIST scientists in AI, cybersecurity, robotics, and manufacturing.
• Inventory ongoing research and contextualize it within market needs, gaps, and trends.
• Support management of Accelerator data, technology transfer, IP, and research security to maintain coherence.
