Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior Prompt Engineer to collaborate with domain experts and translate business needs into effective LLM prompts. You will develop, test, and refine prompts for diverse use cases and ensure outputs are accurate, integrating solutions with software teams.

The role requires a Master’s with 8+ years (PhD ideal), willingness to work in Cambridge, MA or Niskayuna, NY, travel 2 weeks/year, and hands-on experience with PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy, OpenAI GPT, Hugging Face, and Git.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field with 8+ years' relevant experience.
• Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY or Cambridge, MA.
• Must be willing to travel a minimum of 2 weeks per year.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (ideal).
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Experience with data processing libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
• Experience with prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with OpenAI GPT models and Hugging Face.
• Proficiency in Python or other programming languages commonly used in AI/ML development.
• Previous experience or internships involving NLP or machine learning projects.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with domain experts to understand business needs and translate them into clear and effective LLM prompts.
• Develop, test, and refine prompts for varied use cases.
• Ensure high accuracy and relevance in generated outputs.
• Work with software developers to integrate LLM solutions into existing or new applications.
• Contribute to a scalable prompt-engineering framework that promotes reuse and knowledge sharing across business units.
• Gather and analyze user feedback to improve prompt effectiveness.
• Stay current with advancements in LLM technology.
• Contribute to strategic decisions on tool and platform selection.
• Document prompt-engineering processes, best practices, and use-case outcomes.
• Build a comprehensive prompt-engineering knowledge base.
• Complete a required three-month hybrid onboarding residency at the GE Vernova Advanced Research Center in Niskayuna, NY.
