Job summary

Sycamore in Palo Alto is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the customer-facing product team. You will be the engineer in the customer room and the product engineer who ships what the room needs.

You own the full loop from discovery through deployment, building end-to-end workflows, APIs, and data models, and turning recurring needs into reusable platform capabilities. You will travel to customer sites as needed and collaborate with Core AI or Infrastructure to scale solutions,

Qualifications

• 5-12 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals across APIs, data modeling, distributed systems, testing, and production debugging.
• Evidence you shipped and operated meaningful software.
• Product judgment to balance customer-specific needs with reusable platform features.
• Comfort across UI, backend, data, agent behavior, and deployment.
• Security-minded approach to enterprise data, permissions, and auditability.
• AI-native mindset using coding agents and modern models.
• Clear communication with CTOs, operators, security teams, and engineers.
• Comfort with startup ambiguity and regular customer travel.

Responsibilities

• Turn ambiguous enterprise problems into clear technical designs and measurable outcomes.
• Build product surfaces for agent conversations, tasks, progress, approvals, artifacts, and workflows.
• Design APIs and relational data models representing the customer domain.
• Build agent instructions, tool interfaces, connector interactions, and durable workflow steps with permissions and failure behavior.
• Navigate authentication, authorization, tenant isolation, data handling, observability, and change management.
• Test realistic user journeys, not just happy-path demos.
• Travel to customer sites when required to accelerate discovery, delivery, or adoption.
