Job summary

Cornerstone Research's Data Science Center in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale infrastructure powering AI applications. This hands-on role offers autonomy to co-own the platform beneath the firm’s AI tooling, including inference gateways, containers, and observability.

You will work with platform engineers and product teams to deliver reliable services, improve security posture, and enable developers to ship AI agents and workflows.

Qualifications

• BA/BS with 4+ years of professional software, platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering experience, OR a Master or PhD in a quantitative field with 2+ years of industry experience.
• Strong fundamentals in system design and building reliable systems that handle sensitive data.
• Demonstrated ability to work across tech stacks and pick up new languages or frameworks quickly.
• Experience using AI-powered coding assistants to accelerate development; interest in AI-enabled engineering.
• Familiarity with building AI agents and running safely in sandboxed environments.
• Deep experience with container solutions (Docker, Podman, Bubblewrap).
• Hands-on experience with metrics, logs, and distributed tracing (Grafana/Tempo/OpenTelemetry).
• Clear communication of tradeoffs and documenting systems for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate platform infrastructure that AI applications depend on.
• Own metrics, logs, and traces; build dashboards and alerts for reliability.
• Improve resilience, security posture and operational maturity of systems.
• Provide tooling and deployment paths for developers to ship AI agents quickly and safely.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver platform capabilities.
