Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior AI Platform Engineer to stand up and operate a bare-metal container platform, drive Terraform/Ansible IaC provisioning, and support OCONUS bootstrap activities. The role accepts occasional telework within a 50-mile radius of specified work locations in the United States.

You will deploy OpenShift or equivalent Kubernetes on bare metal, optimize LLM deployment, and ensure cybersecurity and compliance across the platform.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; 10 years with MS/MA; 7 years with Ph.D.
• Experience with platform/systems/integration engineering.
• Hands-on Kubernetes-based container platform experience.
• US Citizenship and Active DoD Secret clearance.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification.
• Practical AI model deployment experience and performance tuning.
• Hands-on OpenShift on bare metal.
• Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and Ansible.
• Knowledge of Spectro Cloud/VMware orchestration.
• Understanding of container networking, storage, security.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and operate LLMs and integrate frontier AI models.
• Optimize model inference and deployment for speed and efficiency.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain model-serving environments.
• Transition provisioning to fully IaC-managed model.
• Install and operate bare-metal OpenShift clusters.
• Design IaC provisioning for platform and VM orchestration.
• Assess OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud licensing and operability.
• Deploy core platform services including DNS (PowerDNS).
• Implement STIGs and cybersecurity requirements.
• Monitor platform health, performance, and logging.
• Support OCONUS hardware bootstrap activities.
• Document platform architecture and operational procedures.
