Job summary

Lyft seeks a Senior Software Engineer to shape the risk management platform powering its insurance operations. You will drive the technical roadmap for claims management, deliver scalable, reliable systems, and collaborate with Engineering, Data Science, and Claim Operations to ship end-to-end solutions.

You will mentor teams, participate in architectural decisions, and advance AI-driven workflows to reduce costs and improve throughput.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience building scalable distributed systems with high availability, observability and reliability requirements.
• Proven ability to build end-to-end products and platforms, collaborating with Backend, Frontend, Data Engineering, Data Science, Claim Operations, and Product teams.
• Strong ability to reason about tradeoffs in system design, architecture, domain modeling, and operational cost.
• Experience developing AI features using multimodal LLMs, RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and other AI frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical roadmap for claims management systems.
• Provide architectural leadership and guide design tradeoffs across engineering teams.
• Drive platform innovations and AI automation to improve claim processing productivity.
• Deliver scalable, reliable, well-tested solutions and code.
• Collaborate with Lyft teams and external partners for integrations.
• Lead code and design reviews and incident triage on-call tasks.
• Share knowledge through tech talks and process improvements.
