Job summary

Pinecone, based in New York, seeks a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to own end-to-end backend, API design, and SDK surfaces. You will shape agent interactions, design MCP servers, and collaborate with product and design to serve developers and AI agents at scale.

You will work across the HTTP layer to the UI, building observable systems and leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate product growth.

Qualifications

• Senior/Staff level with autonomy in APIs and platform design.
• Experience shipping API/SDKs and client libraries.
• Proficiency building web interfaces with React or similar.
• Hands-on with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with large-scale open-source projects.
• Familiarity with agentic frameworks and tool use patterns.

Responsibilities

• Pioneer agent experience design and MCP interfaces for agent workflows.
• Ship end-to-end experiences across API, SDK, CLI, and web.
• Build systems that multiply team output with AI-powered workflows.
• Set standards for AI-assisted development and tooling patterns.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to meet user needs.
• Build observable and auditable systems with monitoring and verification.
