Rippling is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for Rippling AI in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will own end-to-end backend design for autonomous AI platform initiatives, shaping architecture across product, infra, and platform orgs.

This hands-on role requires strong coding, distributed systems expertise, and the ability to mentor junior engineers as the team moves fast. You will work on scalable agent infrastructure, observable systems, and reliable automated workflows that power

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of owning and delivering complex technical projects.
• Strong expertise in platform and distributed systems engineering.
• Hands-on coding skills with active contributions to the codebase.
• Experience driving technical initiatives end-to-end across teams.
• Strong product instincts and ability to translate ambiguous problems into durable platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical design and implementation for high-impact AI platform initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineers across product, infra, and platform organizations.
• Build scalable agent infrastructure that automates high-frequency workflows.
• Design observable, self-correcting systems with long-term improvements.
• Develop harness and platform capabilities that encode business logic into automated workflows.
• Partner with Product to ensure trustworthy AI-powered surfaces for users and admins.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in AI platform development.
