Job summary

BMO U.S. is seeking a Senior AI Architect to be the singular architectural authority for its AI Engineering function, spanning Cloud AI and Workspace Engineering, to ensure a cohesive, governed architecture that supports regulated environments.

You will steer architectural direction across Platform & Fabrics, Developer Experience, and adjacent disciplines, mentor engineers, and lead governance for major AI initiatives, including Microsoft AI surfaces and enterprise platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Master's degree preferred in relevant field.
• 10+ years in software engineering, solution/enterprise architecture.
• 3+ years focused on AI/ML and GenAI architecture with production exposure.
• Experience as cross-organizational architectural authority.

Responsibilities

• Define target AI enterprise architecture, standards, and guardrails.
• Set direction across Directors and squads (Platform & Fabrics, Developer Experience).
• Provide governance for major AI initiatives and present at Architecture Review Board.
• Own architecture of Microsoft AI surfaces across organizations and federation.
• Assess emerging AI capabilities and translate market changes into defensible positions.
• Ensure platform capabilities realize the target architecture with Platform teams.
• Mentor architects and engineers to raise architectural capability.
• Establish transition architecture for AI-incubated platforms toward enterprise ownership.
