Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a Senior AI Architect to own architectural coherence for AI across cloud and workspace estates, spanning AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365. You will guide governance, security, DevOps, and data analytics, and act as the standing authority to the Microsoft AI Council.

The role requires 10+ years in software and enterprise architecture, 3+ years in GenAI, and strong cross-team influence within a regulated financial services context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline (Master's preferred).
• 10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, and enterprise architecture.
• 3+ years focused on AI/ML and GenAI architecture, with hands-on GenAI systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target AI architecture for the enterprise: reference architectures, standards, and guardrails.
• Set architectural direction across Directors and squads; align Security, DevOps, Data Engineering.
• Provide architectural governance for major AI initiatives; review designs for coherence, cost, residency, and regulatory fit.
• Own architectural coherence of Microsoft AI surface across two operating organizations; governance with AI Council and Enterprise Architecture.
• Lead assessment of emerging AI capabilities and translate market change into defensible positions.
