Job summary

MetLife in Tampa, FL is seeking a Principal Architect to lead AI-powered development platforms and agentic solutions across the enterprise. You will shape architectural vision, create reference architectures for AI-enabled development, and champion governance, security, and explainability in collaboration with Platform and Solution Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering, platform architecture, or enterprise architecture with focus on AI.
• Hands-on expertise with agentic AI concepts, LLM integration patterns, MCP servers, and AI agents/plugins.
• Cloud-native architectures, secure integration, API governance, and enterprise-scale systems.
• Security, operational resilience, governance, and responsible AI principles.
• Experience with AI platforms such as Claude AI, Github Copilot, or equivalents.
• Proven track record leading complex architectural initiatives across organizations.
• Strong strategic communication for executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Establish architectural vision for AI platforms, agentic solutions, and enterprise automation.
• Design governance-by-design capabilities including security, compliance, explainability, and responsible AI practices.
• Lead the creation of reusable architectures and patterns for AI-enabled development.
• Collaborate with Platform/Solution Engineering, Security, Privacy, and Architecture teams to drive adoption across the enterprise.
• Develop accelerators and templates to enable rapid AI deployment while reducing risk.
• Influence major technical decisions across engineering teams.
• Represent Enterprise Architecture in strategic AI forums and governance groups.
