Job summary

MetLife is seeking a Principal Architect to lead the design of AI-powered development platforms and agentic solutions. You will establish architectural vision, platform architectures, and solution patterns for AI and automation, ensuring alignment with MetLife’s standards and guardrails.

The role combines strategic direction with hands-on expertise to scale AI safely and drive innovation across the organization. Hybrid role with strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years in software/enterprise architecture with AI focus.
• Hands-on expertise with modern AI concepts and agent frameworks.
• Experience designing cloud-native architectures and security patterns.
• Proven ability to lead architectural initiatives across orgs.
• Experience with AI platforms like Claude AI or Copilot.

Responsibilities

• Establish the architectural vision for AI platforms and enterprise automation.
• Design and evolve enterprise reference architectures for AI-enabled development.
• Lead governance-by-design with security, compliance and explainability.
• Perform hands-on research and experimentation with AI technologies.
• Collaborate with Platform, Solution, Security, Privacy, and Architecture teams.
• Create reusable frameworks and accelerators for AI solutions.
• Influence major architectural decisions and drive adoption enterprise-wide.
• Represent EA in forums on AI platform evolution and governance.
