Proton.ai in the United Kingdom is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to own and grow the Data Layer—the unified foundation that every Proton product and our AI brain are built on.

You will own end-to-end pipelines and architecture (raw → refined → curated), ingestion from diverse sources, and the serving layer that powers product and AI. This role emphasizes AI-native collaboration and requires strong data modeling, pipelines, and data contracts to keep data trustworthy at scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on data engineering with production ownership.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses and major cloud platforms.
• Strong programming and SQL skills.
• Ability to model data for multi-source systems.
• Experience building AI-ready data systems with data contracts.

Responsibilities

• Own the Data Layer end to end: ingestion, modeling, and serving.
• Ingest from file, event, and API sources and ensure data quality.
• Define medallion-style data architecture (raw → refined → curated).
• Collaborate with backend, AI, and product engineers; manage data contracts.
• Operate AI coding agents to ship production-quality output.
