Job summary

Proton.ai is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to own and grow the Data Layer, the unified foundation powering all Proton products and the AI brain. You will lead ingestion, modeling, and reconciliation end to end, ensuring correctness and scale.

You will operate AI coding agents and collaborate with backend, AI, and product teams to define data contracts, improve tooling, and drive data quality. This role requires a strong engineering mindset and startup agility.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on data engineering with production ownership.
• Proficiency with SQL, Python, and data modeling.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses and ETL pipelines.
• Experience with AI-native tools and orchestration.
• Excellent communication and ability to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end Data Layer pipelines and architectures.
• Ingest, transform, and reconcile data from multiple sources.
• Collaborate with backend, AI, and product teams on data contracts.
• Operate AI coding agents (Claude Code, etc.) at a high level and ship production-grade output.
• Drive data quality, validation, and lineage across medallion layers.
