Job summary

GlobalFoundries in the United States is seeking a Staff AI/ML Systems Engineer to drive workload‑driven architecture decisions across hardware and software boundaries. You will define how AI/ML workloads are studied, modeled, and optimized, and align HW/SW teams while serving as a technical authority on performance tradeoffs.

This is a senior IC role with cross‑functional influence, requiring strong mathematical reasoning and deep CPU/SoC insight.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or CS with 4+ years in systems engineering or ML performance
• Strong mathematical reasoning and capability to derive performance models from first principles
• Deep CPU/SoC architecture knowledge including memory hierarchies and bandwidth
• Experience with AI accelerators and HW/SW co‑design challenges
• Familiarity with AI compiler toolchains (MLIR/IREE/TVM) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own workload characterization and hardware performance analysis for AI/ML systems from workloads to KPIs
• Lead architectural discussions with hardware and software teams to identify bottlenecks
• Define KPI framework for AI/ML workloads and mentor junior engineers
• Present findings to senior leadership and product stakeholders
