GlobalFoundries is seeking an AI/ML Systems Engineering Intern to characterize machine learning workloads and map compute and memory demands to hardware resources. You will work with experienced engineers to develop performance experiments, analytical models, and clear technical communications.

The internship emphasizes one-on-one mentorship, growth opportunities, and exposure to practical optimization techniques.

Qualificações

• Sophomore status at application, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in EE/CE or related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA and in good academic standing.
• Experience applying linear algebra, probability, numerical analysis to engineering problems.
• Understanding of cache hierarchies, memory bandwidth, CPU pipelines.
• Proficiency with Python and data analysis libraries (NumPy, pandas, matplotlib).
• English language fluency (written & verbal).
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Capability to work at least 40 hours per week during internship.

Responsabilidades

• Run and interpret performance experiments for AI/ML workloads and document observations with reproducible analysis.
• Build analytical models to estimate throughput, latency, utilization, and memory bandwidth; identify bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to map workload behavior to architecture decisions (cache, memory subsystem, runtime, compiler).
• Present findings through reports, visuals, and discussions and grow toward independent ownership of a workload characterization study.
