Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Manager of AI/ML Software Engineering, based onsite in Minnesota, to lead strategic technology initiatives across healthcare, AI, and enterprise platforms. You will partner with product, architecture, and operations teams to define roadmaps and drive end-to-end software delivery, including AI/GenAI and cloud-based solutions.

You will manage globally distributed teams, champion responsible AI governance, and promote AI-enabled productivity tools to improve delivery speed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering or technology delivery experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams and large-scale technical initiatives.
• Experience managing globally distributed onshore and offshore engineering teams.
• Experience leading the end-to-end delivery and operationalization of AI/ML or Generative AI capabilities.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), APIs, microservices, and modern programming languages (Python, Java, .NET).
• Demonstrated experience utilizing AI-enabled productivity tools (Copilot, ChatGPT).
• Proven track record of partnering with business stakeholders, product management, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of strategic software engineering initiatives across healthcare, Payment Integrity, AI, and enterprise platform domains.
• Define product roadmaps and execution plans with stakeholders.
• Manage globally distributed onshore and offshore engineering teams.
• Drive adoption of AI/ML, GenAI, and intelligent automation.
• Integrate enterprise AI capabilities into team workflows and align hiring strategies.
• Champion ethical use of technology with governance and transparency.
• Promote AI-enabled productivity tools to improve delivery speed and code quality.
• Monitor delivery metrics, OKRs, and program health indicators.
