Job summary

Allen Institute seeks a Senior Software Engineer for AI/ML Platforms and Infrastructure to architect and operate cloud-based and on‑premise training systems for large-scale biological models. You will partner with researchers, engineers, and external collaborators to enable secure, compliant, and cost-efficient AI workflows and data access strategies.

You will lead complex technical initiatives, mentor colleagues, and help shape the Brain Health Accelerator's computational foundation, including

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or related fields, or equivalent experience
• Minimum five years of experience in architecting, implementing, and supporting AI/ML platforms and infrastructure
• Proficiency with Jira
• Proficiency with Python and shell scripting
• Proficiency with Git for source code management
• Proficiency with cloud platforms AWS, Google Cloud, Azure and distributed systems

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud-based and on-premise solutions to support training of large-scale, multi-modality models
• Collaborate with external partners to train models with sensitive data, exploring federated learning
• Guide benchmarking and optimization of ML software and infrastructure
• Provide AI workflow expertise to science and engineering teams
• Represent the Institute in technical discussions with vendors and partners
• Mentor team members and contribute to best practices
