Job summary

The Allen Institute seeks a Sr. Software Engineer to manage data, data science, and ML training stacks across multiple biological modalities.

You will join a close, collaborative team and contribute to code and design processes, with opportunities to train and develop novel models alongside our AI scientists based on your interests and skills. This onsite role in Washington State focuses on building ML pipelines, data storage infra, and a growing model zoo, with involvement in build-vs-buy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant ML experience.
• Experience running/evaluating ML models and building data access APIs.
• Familiarity with CI processes and GitHub Actions.
• Ability to work onsite in Washington State.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ML training and evaluation pipelines across multiple biological modalities.
• Design data storage, versioning, and access infrastructure for large-scale, in-house data.
• Develop and maintain a model zoo of relevant models.
• Work with leadership to make/build versus buy decisions on training and data technical stack.
• Develop processes to support a lab-in-the-loop training paradigm.
