Job summary

IBM Lowell, MA is seeking an experienced Senior Data & AI engineer to lead end-to-end ML systems and production-grade models. You will own models, collaborate with data, engineering, and product teams, and contribute to IBM's transformation initiatives.

You will mentor colleagues, ensure governance, scalability, and reliability of AI workflows, and stay at the forefront of ML research and tooling to deliver measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with ML pipelines or ML platforms.
• Exceptional software engineering skills to build a maintainable data platform.
• Proficiency in at least one general purpose programming language (Python, Go, Java, Rust, etc.).
• Strong collaboration and willingness to debate and align with the team to move as one.
• Experience building enterprise data platforms with governance and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve ML pipelines covering data ingestion, preprocessing, feature engineering, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Translate research prototypes and models into production-quality code with robustness and scalability.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, and SRE/DevOps to integrate ML services into broader systems.
• Mentor junior engineers, lead code reviews, and help establish ML lifecycle and quality standards.
• Stay current with emerging ML research, frameworks, and tooling and propose improvements or experiments.
