Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer - ML Engineer for Agent Platform. You will be a senior technical leader on the team building and running NEO, the agent runtime platform for Payments Technology.

You will set architecture for agent execution, communication, memory, and evaluation in a secure, scalable way. You will lead end-to-end design, security-focused coding, and adoption of enterprise AI practices, guiding multiple teams and mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for platforms, runtimes, or distributed systems.
• Advanced in one or more programming languages; strong Python plus a systems language (Go or Rust) for performance-sensitive runtime work.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools with ability to validate AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and secure handling of inputs/outputs within delivery practices.
• Experience building or operating LLM/agent systems in production, including tracing and guardrails.
• Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, resiliency, and security.
• Experience with cloud, AI, ML disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Owns end-to-end architecture of the NEO agent runtime, including secure execution and isolation.
• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and troubleshooting beyond routine approaches.
• Develops secure, high-quality production code and sets design standards across teams.
• Drives enterprise-wide AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality and delivery speed.
• Shapes the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve automation value.
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation for operational stability.
• Defines permission-aware, auditable execution model (OpenFGA, OPA/Rego) for safe operation.
• Leads evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams on architectural designs.
• Leads communities of practice and mentors engineers to raise engineering bar.
• Fosters a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect.
