Job summary

Southwest Research Institute seeks a senior AI/ML engineer to lead R&D for aerospace mission systems in the Strategic Aerospace Department. You will drive physics-informed ML for sensor fusion, anomaly detection, and autonomous capabilities on embedded hardware using C/C++, Python.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, guide SIL/HIL testing, and mentor engineers while advancing AI capabilities through strategy, proposals, and demonstrations.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelors or a Masters in Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Data Science.
• Graduate degrees in AI/ML are strongly preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive engineering leadership and AI/ML deployment experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI/ML R&D for aerospace mission systems and real-time edge computing.
• Develop physics-informed and data-driven ML for sensor fusion and anomaly detection.
• Architect and transition AI/ML to embedded hardware using C/C++ and Python.
• Provide senior technical leadership for cross-disciplinary integration and verification.
