Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and scaling of advanced AI/ML models for aerospace and defense. You will mentor engineers, guide strategic AI initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while delivering high-impact results.

You will drive RAG-based development, embedding pipelines, retrieval strategies, and multimodal document understanding, coordinating with stakeholders across teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, applied statistics, or related STEM discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in a related field, with substitution options.
• Advanced skills in ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and RL/GAN approaches.
• Experience deploying AI/ML systems in production, scalable architectures.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, C#, or Java for scalable ML systems.
• Experience leading teams or projects and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead exploration and hypothesis-driven experimentation, rapidly prototyping AI/ML solutions.
• Develop and prototype RAG-based architectures, embeddings, retrieval, and multimodal understanding.
• Design MPC-aligned models with predictive analytics and reinforcement learning control.
• Architect and optimize advanced models (transformers, GANs) and guide cross-functional teams.
• Create validation, testing, and integration plans meeting safety and cybersecurity standards.
