Job summary

AeroVironment seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer to advance drone threat detection for Counter-UAS systems. You'll work with large-scale RF datasets, applying DSP to denoise and precondition spectrograms, and build data pipelines in collaboration with our San Diego team.

Responsibilities include developing ML algorithms, evaluating performance on real-world data, and enabling automation across data processing workflows, with a focus on scalable, robust solutions that impact mission success.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in ML/CS/Applied Math with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong DSP principles and techniques.
• Proficient in Python; MATLAB a plus.
• Experience with ML, statistical signal processing, or pattern recognition.
• Strong data handling skills with large datasets.
• Curiosity and motivation to experiment with new approaches.
• Good written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, apply, and evaluate ML algorithms for detection and signal processing.
• Analyze and manage large datasets to support model training and testing.
• Identify opportunities to automate data processing workflows and improve efficiency.
• Apply DSP principles to assist in algorithm development.
• Analyze real-world results to identify root causes and insights.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in R&D efforts.
