Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer - Validation & Evaluation in AVM to lead validation pathways, apply evaluation methods, and develop guidance for HCI and usability in clinical workflows.

You will review validation content for adequacy, coach engineers, and coordinate with enterprise partners to ensure rigorous, compliant outcomes. This role blends advanced AI expertise with healthcare delivery impact.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field with 4 years of experience, a bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience.
• Extensive experience applying AI and machine learning in production healthcare environments or similar regulated industries.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing complex projects and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Translate enterprise validation and evaluation requirements into practical pathways and methods for pilots, full implementations, and legacy products.
• Review intended use, performance and safety expectations, acceptance thresholds, and evidence sufficiency.
• Evaluate retrospective studies, prospective designs, pilot protocols, workflow simulations, and human-factors work.
• Review test plans, validation datasets for representativeness, production parity, and uncertainty.
• Lead HCI, clinical workflow, usability, and human oversight reviews; address automation-bias risks.
• Mentor AVM staff; calibrate reviewer comments and ensure consistency in conclusions.
