Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to work across the full AI lifecycle, from ideation to production, within a clinical setting. You will develop AI-driven solutions using DL, NLP, CV, and Generative AI, integrating them into healthcare workflows and clinical processes.

You will collaborate with clinicians, UX designers, PMs, and IT professionals to translate needs into design concepts, review governance, and ensure compliant, scalable AI deployments with strong emphasis on patient safety

Qualifications

• Master’s in engineering, CS, maths, health science or related field with 1 year experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 3 years experience.
• Experience applying AI and machine learning in production environments or similar regulated industries.
• Skill in cloud infrastructure environment and software development tools.
• Experience working with large, complex healthcare data sets.
• Skill in AI/ML techniques and frameworks.
• Strong cross-team collaboration and communication with non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with data engineering, data science, AI Engineering, and MLOps practices.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
• Ph.D. or doctorate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and standardize AI-driven solutions that integrate into clinical practice to improve patient care and clinic operations.
• Collaborate with clinicians, UX designers, PMs, and IT to translate needs into design concepts and usability specs for AI solutions.
• Conduct governance reviews of AI-enabled technologies with evidence-based determinations.
• Assess product documentation, identify risks or gaps, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Contribute to governance process and tool improvements through identifying recurring challenges.
• Interpret/analyze data to inform strategic decisions and explain findings to bridge AI and clinical use.
• Leverage ML techniques to design, develop, and deploy end-to-end AI solutions for healthcare.
• Engage in CI/CD tooling design, testing, and maintenance for automated AI software releases.
• Help implement best practices for AI development and deployment methodologies.
