Mayo Clinic seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team advancing AI in healthcare. You will develop and deploy AI solutions across clinical workflows, partnering with clinicians, UX designers, and IT professionals to improve patient care and operational efficiency.

You will lead design and implementation, mentor engineers, and ensure robust CI/CD pipelines. This hybrid role requires proximity to Mayo Clinic campuses within 100 miles and a commitment to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or related field with 4+ years experience; or bachelor’s with 6+ years.
• Extensive experience applying AI/ML in production healthcare or regulated tech.
• Demonstrated leadership managing complex projects and cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure and software development tools.
• Experience with large, heterogeneous healthcare datasets and ML frameworks.
• Familiarity with data engineering, AI engineering, and MLOps practices.
• Mentorship and training experience for junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, integration, and standardization of AI-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with clinicians, UX designers, product managers, and IT pros.
• Own UX/frontend design for the product from wireframes to production frontend.
• Apply ML techniques (DL, NLP, CV, LLMs) to healthcare applications.
• Establish evaluation methods and metrics for AI solutions.
• Explain data insights clearly to non-technical users.
• Oversee systems engineering for AI deployment.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation for AI software.
• Contribute to AI development best practices and standards.
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership within the team.
• Offer advisory services to clinical work units and AI product teams.
• Provide training on AI tools and technologies for staff.
• Contribute to developing new AI methods in healthcare.
