Job summary

Mayo Clinic seeks a Principal AI/ML Engineer to lead the full AI lifecycle from ideation to production in a clinical setting. You will apply advanced AI/ML techniques to vast healthcare data, including EHRs, imaging, and genomics, ensuring safe, compliant deployment.

You will mentor engineers, define AI governance, and collaborate with clinicians, UX designers, product managers, and IT to align AI solutions with patient care and clinic operations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of AI/ML in production healthcare environments or similarly regulated industries.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing complex projects and cross-functional teams.
• Expertise in cloud infrastructure and software development tools.
• Experience with large, heterogeneous healthcare datasets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full AI life cycle from ideation to production in a clinical setting.
• Develop and integrate AI/ML solutions aligned with clinical workflows and regulatory requirements.
• Define best practices for AI development, CI/CD tooling, and governance.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
