Job summary

Swingtech is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead AI solution architecture and hands-on development across DOL agency initiatives. You will drive generative AI initiatives, integration of LLMs, RAG workflows, and production ML systems while ensuring security, privacy, and compliance.

This role requires collaboration with stakeholders and 3 days onsite in Washington, DC. You will mentor teams, shape engineering standards, and oversee TEVV activities, model evaluation, and responsible AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; master’s preferred.
• 7+ years hands-on AI/ML/engineering experience.
• 2+ years delivering generative AI, LLM integration, RAG, model evaluation, agentic AI, production ML systems.
• Experience architecting secure enterprise or Federal AI solutions.
• Experience with AI model integration, APIs, data pipelines, vector databases, retrieval systems, MLOps.
• Knowledge of FISMA, NIST 800-series guidance, FedRAMP, FIPS, accessibility, and ATO processes.
• Ability to advise technical and nontechnical stakeholders and lead cross-domain work.
• Willing to work 3 days onsite at customer site in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI solution architecture, design, engineering, integration, testing, deployment, and technical quality for DOL solutions.
• Translate agency needs into AI use cases, designs, backlogs, acceptance criteria, and production-ready capabilities.
• Design and implement AI/ML systems including deterministic automation, NLP, LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Define architecture patterns, standards, evaluation methods, secure integration, and MLOps/LLMOps practices.
• Lead technical discovery including data readiness, privacy/security impact, and Responsible AI implications.
• Architect secure AI solutions using government cloud platforms, services, models, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead AI evaluation addressing accuracy, retrieval quality, bias, explainability, and safety.
• Ensure training/validation datasets are separated, versioned, and access-controlled.
• Implement model versioning, experiment tracking, monitoring, drift detection, and controlled retraining.
• Support Responsible AI documentation, RAIA packages, and government approval processes.
• Support security, Section 508 accessibility, ATO, architecture review, and operational-readiness.
• Maintain source code, configurations, documents, runbooks, and release records in gov repos.
• Serve as liaison to agency stakeholders and delivery teams; provide coaching and escalation support.
• Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for production AI systems.
