Job summary

The Josef Group in Dayton, OH, is seeking an experienced Machine Learning lead to develop and refine advanced AI/ML solutions for complex sensor data and mission-focused environments.

You will own the full ML lifecycle—from data preparation and model training to validation, deployment, and integration with existing software systems—while mentoring engineers and communicating progress to program leadership and government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related STEM discipline; Master's/PhD preferred.
• At least 7 years of professional ML experience with production/operational AI/ML solutions.
• Strong deep learning knowledge: CNNs, transformers, CV, and object detection.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full ML development lifecycle: data prep, training, validation, performance tuning, and deployment.
• Collaborate with researchers, scientists, and mission specialists to address data challenges.
• Build scalable Python applications with maintainable, tested, and documented code.
• Assess model accuracy and reliability; improve performance across datasets and conditions.
• Integrate ML models into existing software and analytical tools; ensure operational readiness.
• Provide mentorship, code reviews, and promote software development best practices.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and government stakeholders.
