Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Principal AI Infrastructure Engineer to drive the AI Center of Excellence’s infrastructure strategy for a high-performance on-premise private cloud. You will own the roadmap, translate ML needs into scalable platform capabilities, and lead RFIs/RFPs with cross-functional partners to enable enterprise-scale AI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related engineering field.
• Significant experience in large-scale infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems architecture.
• Proven history owning infrastructure roadmaps and delivering in on-premise or private cloud.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML concepts, data science workflows, MLOps, and model lifecycle.
• Familiarity with Generative AI and Agentic AI architectures and their infra needs.
• Deep understanding of compute, storage, and networking for modern AI platforms.
• Experience with high-density, power-intensive AI infrastructure including cooling and data center design.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI infrastructure roadmap for Mastercard’s on-premise private cloud, aligning with AI priorities.
• Act as product owner for AI infrastructure translating needs into scalable platform capabilities.
• Manage RFIs/RFPs for AI infra components defining criteria and vendor responses.
• Architect and scale infra for training large models and low-latency inference across global workloads.
• Define modern AI infra standards including storage, networking, cooling, and power design.
• Collaborate with data science, MLOps, and platform teams across lifecycle stages.
• Coordinate with security, governance, compliance, and legal for regulatory alignment.
• Present trade-offs and ROI to senior leadership; stay ahead of AI infra trends.
