Job summary

SpaceX in Washington, DC is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for AI Infrastructure (Starshield) to design, operate and scale the infrastructure that supports critical national security missions.

You will lead GPU platforms and on‑prem Kubernetes clusters, and build automation with Terraform and Ansible while collaborating with AI engineers to deliver reliable, scalable products. This senior role requires 5+ years of Linux/Kubernetes experience and readiness for extended hours; SpaceX offers stock

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5+ years Linux/DevOps experience
• 5+ years Kubernetes experience
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, and containerization Technologies

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide support for GPU as a service on bare metal and virtualized platforms
• Design, validate, and productize AI cluster solutions (100k+ GPU scale)
• Develop automation to deploy and manage on-premise Kubernetes/AI clusters and OS
• Deploy and manage core infrastructure such as databases, monitoring and storage
• Collaborate with AI engineers to create scalable, operable products
• Engage in the full lifecycle of services from inception to deployment and refinement
• Monitoring and alerting supporting systems to ensure high availability
• Identify improvements and deliver innovative solutions for availability
• Mentor and train junior engineers
• As a senior engineer you must lead the team to technical excellence – decisions guide the team
