Job summary

SpaceX is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer for AI Infrastructure (Starshield) in Palo Alto to design, deploy, and scale software and GPU infrastructure supporting critical national security missions.

You will automate on-prem resources, build scalable AI clusters, and collaborate with AI engineers to deliver reliable services. Strong Linux, Kubernetes, and scripting skills are required; TS/SCI or DOE-level clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/engineering or 7+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• 5+ years of Linux system experience with production-grade deployments.
• 5+ years Kubernetes experience implementing scalable clusters.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or other infra tools.
• Proficient scripting in Bash or Python; development in Python/C++/Go.

Responsibilities

• Manage GPU as a service on bare metal and virtualized platforms.
• Design, validate, and productize AI cluster solutions (100k+ GPU scale).
• Develop automation to deploy on-prem Kubernetes/AI clusters and OSes.
• Deploy and manage core infra: databases, monitoring, storage.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to build scalable, operable products.
• Lead lifecycle from design to deployment and refinement; mentor juniors.
