Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA seeks a Senior Software Engineer for AI infrastructure within Starshield. You will design, operate, and scale software and GPU infrastructure supporting critical national security missions, including on-prem Kubernetes clusters and AI services.

You will lead automation efforts, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with AI teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions while navigating security and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems/IT, or an engineering discipline with 5+ years Linux/SRE/DevOps experience, or 7+ years without a degree.
• 5+ years of Kubernetes experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide support for GPU as a service on bare metal and virtualized platforms.
• Design, validate, and productize AI cluster solutions at large scale (100k+ GPUs).
• Develop automation to deploy and manage on‑premise Kubernetes/AI clusters and OSes.
• Deploy and manage core infrastructure such as databases, monitoring, and storage.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to build scalable, operable products.
• Own lifecycle from design to deployment and refinement, ensuring high availability.
