Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead AI-enabled product development within the Chief Data and Analytics Office. You will design scalable AI services, implement end-to-end ML pipelines, and drive governance and security across teams.

You’ll collaborate with senior stakeholders to deliver trusted technology across portfolios, ensuring reliability and rapid delivery in a large enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 7+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for large-scale platforms and services.
• Expert proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala, Go) with strong code quality, testing, and debugging practices.
• Experience designing and leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices across teams, including human-in-the-loop validation and secure data handling.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control in engineering workflows, including security and governance implications.
• Proven ability to design and operate ML/LLM platforms with reproducible pipelines and model/data versioning.
• Practical cloud-native experience and operating production systems with clear SLOs.
• Experience applying new methods to solve complex tech problems across multiple disciplines.
• Strong communication skills to influence senior leaders and translate technical topics into decisions.
• Ability to align platform roadmaps to measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and troubleshoot AI-enabled applications and services.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code; review and improve others' code.
• Own and support SDK and service integrations for reliability and performance.
• Build AI-powered features including prompt design and integrations.
• Design end-to-end MLOps capabilities with training pipelines and CI/CD for models.
• Contribute to training techniques and productize platform primitives.
• Automate remediation to improve reliability and operational performance of AI features.
• Create reusable Frameworks and platform components used across teams.
• Influence leaders to drive alignment and foster inclusion and respect.
• Architect AI-enabled engineering workflows with guardrails for security and reuse.
