Job summary

Capital One is building trustworthy AI systems to transform banking. The AI Foundations team partners with product, technology, and business leaders to apply state-of-the-art AI to customer experiences.

You will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and ML engineers to deliver AI-powered products, using PyTorch, Huggingface, and AWS Ultraclusters to scale models from concept to production. You will lead research threads and translate insights into business impact.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields, with start date plus 2 years experience in Applied Research or MS with 4 years in Applied Research
• Experience in developing AI foundation models and deploying at scale
• Ability to lead cross-functional research threads and translate insights into production impact

Responsibilities

• Partner with data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to deliver AI-powered products
• Leverage PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning to process large numeric and textual data
• Build AI foundation models from design through training, evaluation, and deployment
• Engage in applied research to push AI developments into customer-facing experiences
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals
• Lead cross-functional threads bridging prototype development and ML engineering deployment
