Capital One is seeking a skilled Applied Researcher to advance AI foundations, build large-scale models, and collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers. You will work across design, training, evaluation, and deployment to deliver AI-powered customer experiences.

Qualifications

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields, or MS with 2 years applied research experience.
Experience in applying AI/ML methods at scale.
Ability to own and pursue a research agenda with long-running projects.

Responsibilities

Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
Leverage PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, Lightning to analyze large data sets.
Build AI foundation models from design through training, evaluation, and deployment.
Translate complex research into tangible business goals.
Prepare internal reports or conference submissions with senior researchers.
