Job summary

Laurel is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to design, build, and deploy AI-powered systems for real enterprise problems. You will work directly with Laureates to understand operational workflows, ship production-grade solutions, and own outcomes end-to-end across backend services, orchestration layers, integrations, and tooling.

You will write production code across the stack, collaborate with Product and Core Engineering, and prototype new functionality while maintaining strong engineering

Qualifications

• 4+ years building production software systems.
• Experience across backend, infrastructure, integrations and customer environments.
• Ability to architect and ship complex systems with minimal oversight.
• Experience with APIs, distributed systems, cloud infra, data-heavy apps.
• Experience deploying AI/LLM systems in enterprise environments.
• Strong communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to understand workflows and constraints.
• Design and implement production-grade backend, orchestration and tooling.
• Write high-quality code across stack: TypeScript, APIs, data pipelines, cloud infra.
• Own deployments end-to-end: discovery, architecture, implementation, testing, rollout, monitoring.
• Debug complex issues across systems and data pipelines.
• Collaborate to turn field learnings into reusable platform capabilities.
• Prototype new features quickly while ensuring scalability and maintainability.
• Translate ambiguous needs into clear technical plans and execution paths.
