Laurel is seeking a Senior or Staff Applied AI Engineer to elevate our core AI from promising to dependable. You will own features end-to-end, drive rollout tiers, and build evaluation benchmarks.

You will shape the semantic stack and collaborate with product, design, and engineering to deliver high-quality AI capabilities at scale. We value a customer-minded approach, strong Python/TypeScript skills, and a track record shipping ML/LLM-powered features to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with ML/LLM-powered features.
• Ability to think in problems, not just solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own AI features end-to-end from problem statement to GA.
• Move features through prototype to GA with eval baselines.
• Build and defend evals with north-star metrics and monitoring.
• Lead the meaning layer of semantic stack: retrieval semantics and embeddings.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams.
• Engage with customers and provide input on product direction.
