Job summary

U.S. News & World Report is seeking a Senior Software Developer (Python, React, AI) to drive data-driven web applications with an AI-first mindset.

The role blends frontend and backend work, leveraging AWS cloud, BigQuery-like data tooling, and modern JavaScript while maintaining quality and scalable architecture. The successful candidate will collaborate with product owners, designers, and analysts to deliver features end-to-end, with independence and a strong emphasis on continual learning

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of related or similar full stack experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Experience with AI-assisted development, skills, agents, automations.
• Modern JavaScript frameworks, such as React.
• Web styling with CSS preprocessors or CSS-in-JS.
• Server-side technologies, such as Python, Java, or NodeJS.
• Databases, such as PostgreSQL.
• Unix-based operating systems and command-line tools.
• Version control, such as Git.

Responsibilities

• A key contributor for a team of developers working with one of our verticals.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, mentor developers.
• Employ an AI-first approach to day-to-day investigation & development.
• Develop and maintain clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Make code architecture decisions.
• Review code for quality.
• Serve as a technical role model.
